Abbey is a Co-Curator with Community Food Strategies, and has been with the project for over 10 years.  She is a native of Eastern NC and hails from a long line of resourceful fishermen, boat builders, and educators. Her work centers on the intersection of food and community and builds on the wisdom of community mentors in Durham, Washington, DC, and Seattle, WA and from her roots on the waterways of Eastern, NC on the Pamlico and Core Sounds. She studied Public Health and Community-Engaged Design, and has deep training in racial justice and in facilitation methods. When she isn’t focused on re-building systems based in care and equity, you might find her gardening with neighbors at her Durham, NC home or driving east to sail the Neuse River.
