Bringing together diverse groups of stakeholders within a community is an important task of food councils. Convened groups can:
- Identify who is working on what – making connections across projects
- Observe community priorities – where energy, and action are focused
- Discover where future efforts should go – based on what’s working or what’s missing
The Community Food Strategies team works with established food councils to engage and convene communities to:
- Build capacity within local councils to effectively convene their communities
- Develop shared reporting methods and measures so that communities can readily identify potential partners in the network
- Bring together subcommittees from multiple councils with similar priorities to encourage collaborative learning together
