Communications Technology

There are many tools available to make collaborative work easier.  At any stage of network or council development, consider these helpful tips for collaborative communication.

  • WordPress site for transparency of process (minutes, materials, agendas).
Examples include Chatham Food Council and Raleigh Wake FPC Task Force
  • Doodle for scheduling meetings
  • Email as needed – but make sure it’s working for folks.
Consider putting a prefix to subjects so that members know to look for messages.  Example, [community FPC] as a prefix.
  • Google documents for shared editing (ex. Contact List, Draft Charter, etc.)

In our experience, it is useful for some groups to have computer projection during meetings.  This, when used with google docs or online files  make note taking, reviewing content, etc. in the actual files, saving time for the secretary or minute-taker.
